The settlement date is here. Settlement and closing are terms used interchangeably. The settlement or closing date refers to the day when the seller and the buyer meet at the settlement company (often called the title company) and sign the documents to transfer the home. Sellers get a check and buyers get the keys.

Sometimes, additional negotiating may take place during settlement. Your legal obligations don’t end until the papers have been signed and the buyers have the keys. But don’t worry, it sounds more complicated than it is. I will be with you until the very last minute and even after the transaction has closed to answer any questions that you might have and follow up in case there are any items pending.
