Now that all else has been taken care of, we are ready to go to closing. Closing and settlement are two terms used interchangeably. The closing takes place at a title company (or settlement company). Prior to going to the title company we will do a final walk-through of the property to make sure that everything is as it is supposed to be.

Then we will make our way over to the title company where the documents will be signed and you will receive the keys to your new home. The title company will have already checked the property title to make sure it is free of any liens, and will have communicated with the lender of the buyer and the seller in order to know how much money they need to collect and disburse.

As with all other professionals, you don’t need to worry about finding a reliable title company. I will recommend several reputable companies that you can rely on to take care of this part of the transaction for you.

At the end of the day, you have the keys to your new home and you are ready to move in! And even though that is where my job technically ends, you can rest assured that I will be around to answer any questions and provide you with recommendations to contractors  (e.g. painters) and other professionals that you might need.
